This is a nice, well-preserved example of an early model of the Zeiss Ikon Box Tengor camera. It has the Frontar lens, a simple meniscus used by Zeiss Ikon on boxes and some cheap folding cameras. The letters “D.R.P.” on the lens housing indicate “Deutsches Reichspatent,” a Reich patented design.

This camera has a neat little decal inside indicating it was originally sold by the firm of J. Rodenstock, with locations in Berlin and Munich. I previously posted a Voigtländer Bessa camera sold by this same dealer.

This slider allows the user to choose one of three focus zones.

I used this example of the Zeiss Ikon Box Tengor 54/2 to take these photos in Massachusetts and Rhode Island on a late autumn afternoon.
