I found this lovely early Box Tengor camera at a flea market in Vienna in the spring of this year. I already had several of these cameras and didn’t need another one but the seller refused to sell me the yellow filter separately.

This is the Zeiss-Ikon Box Tengor 54/2, made between 1928 and 1931. This is a metal box with a Goerz Frontar 1:11 1 cm lens at the front. Inside the camera are two built-in close-up lenses, one for portraits and the other for group photos. The shutter is fixed, around 1/30, and there are 3 aperture settings. The camera has a satisfying weight, all-metal construction with a nice build quality and a leatherette covering that still looks nice after more than 90 years. I think this is a beautiful camera and they are fun to use.
The yellow filter darkens the sky and increases contrast. It’s a good accessory for black and white photography,
I took these photos in the summer with Fomapan 100 film, developed in Rodinal.
